Plantable seed paper.
Our plantable cards are printed on paper embedded with a carefully chosen UK wildflower seed mix. The paper itself contains the seeds — when planted, it breaks down in the soil and the seeds germinate. No mess, no fuss, no card ending up in the bin.
The wildflower mix
We use a UK native wildflower mix chosen specifically to support pollinators — bees, butterflies, and hoverflies. The mix includes species like cornflower, poppy, foxglove, and ox-eye daisy. All species are appropriate for UK growing conditions and non-invasive.
How to plant it
Tear or cut the card into small pieces roughly 2cm square.
Soak the pieces in water for an hour — this softens the paper and helps the seeds germinate.
Press the pieces into a pot of compost or a patch of prepared soil, just below the surface.
Water gently and keep moist. Place in a sunny spot.
Germination typically begins within 2–4 weeks depending on temperature and season. Spring and early summer are ideal.
Best time to plant
Spring and early summer give the best results — March through June is ideal. Cards can be stored and planted later; keep them dry until you're ready to use them.
For your customers
Each card comes with brief planting instructions on the backing card. We'd suggest letting customers know at the till — "these ones actually grow into wildflowers" is a reliable conversation starter and a reason to choose AHC over a standard card.
Please note
- Our plantable range includes three seed mixes: wildflower (most designs), poppy, and herb. Each product page shows which mix is included.
- Envelope colours may vary slightly from photography due to screen and print variation.
- Seed density and positioning varies from card to card — each is individually made and no two are identical.
